Extract from the original post

“Intergen’s SharePoint consultant Bernardine Slagter gave us insight into SharePoint 2010 and the Business Intelligence capabilities it offers. She took attendees through SharePoint 2010 and showed them how to facilitate better, faster, well-informed business decisions to meet business goals and improve overall operational effectiveness through SharePoint 2010.

SharePoint allows users to create their own dashboards where they can capture and present information from a number of different data sources (including SharePoint and Line of Business systems such as HR and Finance systems), in a number of different ways. Bernardine stressed the importance of users identifying what they need before implementing such a programme, allowing users to capture, filter and present information where it is most relevant. SharePoint offers an array of business intelligence tools that cater to different needs from Excel and Visio 2010 to PerformancePoint and Reporting Services. Bernardine also ran through the different graphical options to capture and present information from a simple table to multidimensional graphs.”
