Yes, you can increase hard disk size of your VM. It doesn't matter if you have software installed and working on it. Go to Virtual Machine Settings. Under Hardware, select Hard Disk (SCSI) (Device column). On right side, you will see Utilities drop down, open it and select Expand Disk Capacity. Enter size and click Expand button. Expansion process will take some time depending on the new size you entered.

SP2010 Tip: Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010
If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.
