Speaking at SharePoint Conference New Zealand 2011 (Via Randy Williams)

Randy will be speaking at the SharePoint Conference in NZ. Below is an excerpt from his recent blog post. We would like to hear from him his experience at the conference.
Extracted from the original post:
“I’m very excited to be making my first trip to New Zealand in March 2011 to speak at the SharePoint Conference New Zealand. This event is run by Debbie Ireland and her amazing team at EnvisionIT, the same company I worked with to bring this event to Singapore last October. The conference date is March 16 and 17 in Wellington.
In addition to these two, jam-packed days of content, there will also be half-day, hands-on workshops running the day before and after the conference. Some of these still have seats, but don’t wait--I know these are going fast. One of my workshop sessions is a SharePoint 2010 session for developers scheduled on March 15.
For the two-day conference, I have one speaking session here:”

Setting the Portal Site Connection with PowerShell in SharePoint 2010 (Via Todd O. Klindt )

Extract from the original post
“When I do SharePoint admin talks I also preach the value of scaling by site collections instead of webs. This provides numerous benefits like permissions boundaries, scalability, and quotas. One of the first pushbacks I get on this is navigation. Navigation is also bounded at the site collection level, so each site collection has different navigation, which makes it difficult for end users to get out of the site collection to other SharePoint content. Discoverability is an issue.”

SharePoint Search – AuthzInitializeContextFromSid failed (Via Andy Burn)

Andy Burn explains solutions of the problem he faced while using SharePoint search.

Excerpt from the post:

“I’d a really, really weird problem with a customer yesterday. We’d set up their SharePoint search. Indexing seemed to be working correctly, and when I logged in as an administrator, I was getting search results correctly. However, logged in as a normal – though very highly privileged – user my search results were missing! This was some thing of a surprise. It felt like security trimming, but the user was a Site Collection admin, and had Full Control throughout the entire main content web application. Also, we were indexing content off the network file share, and we knew he could access both the SharePoint Content.”

SharePoint 2010 Server CU’s and SP’s do not need Foundation!!! (Via Brad Saide)

Excerpt from original post: “I’ve been trying to find an “official position” from Microsoft on this for a while now, and it seems that Stefan has got an explanation as to why the Foundation Cumulative Update does not need to be installed before the Server Updates (as well as confirming that they are not…) – http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2011/03/04/delayed-february-2011-cu-for-sharepoint-2010-is-now-available.aspx – Essentially in 2007 you could be on a different hotfix level between Server and WSS, but in 2010 there are dependencies on Foundation so the hotfixes will ALWAYS be packaged together.”

SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

“If you pair a proven document management solution with a powerful customer relationship management solution, what do you get? I say you get pure bliss!
Imagine opening up a client’s account in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and not only being able to see all of your contacts at that account and their history, but also being able to link that client’s account directly to a document library in SharePoint. Although the integration between SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics CRM was possible in the past releases with the use of JavaScript, with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, the integration with SharePoint is native.”
