SharePoint Business Connectivity Services - Part 4

Modifying External Content Type

You can modify external content type if you want to make changes. For example, in the above figure you may have noticed that you only see three records where the country is US. What if you want to show all records? You can remove the filter from the content type.

1. To remove filter, go back to SharePoint Designer and select External Content Types from the left navigation.

2. Click on the external content type name in the right pane.

3. Click Operations Design View button in the ribbon.

4. On the right side, in External Content Type Operations, select Read List operation.

5. Click Edit Operation button in the ribbon.

6. Click Next to go to the Filter Parameters.

7. Click Remove Filter Parameter button.

8. Click Finish.

9. Click Save button in the menu bar to save the changes. Your changes won’t take effect if you don't save them.

10. After updating the external content type, you have to add permissions again in the Central Administration as explained in the previous section.

11. Now view list again in the browser and you will see all records.
